I participated in the 21st Annual Middle Eastern Heritage Celebration, poetry reading in English and Farsi among an international panel.
21st
Annual Middle Eastern Heritage Celebration. On April 26, we had an
enchanting afternoon of poetry recitation in different languages,
organized by Sami Ibrahim of San Jose City College and hosted by Roohi
Vora of Evergreen Valley College. “Language is the amber in which a
thousand precious and subtle thoughts have been safely embedded and preserved," said poet Richard Trench. Heartwarming poetry was read in
Arabic (Selwa Ghamrawi), Farsi (Sheida Mohamadi), Spanish (Lorena
Ansari) and Urdu and Panjabi (Roohi Vora). As always, this event amongst others was to
inform the college community about the history, rich
culture, and aspirations of the people of the Middle East.
